+[Aviation Center] Tehran _ 2018

Client: Urban Development and Revitalization of Iran

Role: Senior Architect + Project Manager

Tehran Aviation center is a proposal for an invited national competition for the connection between two specific zones in Tehran: “Chitgar Park” with “Persian Gulf Lake”. The site is located in the Chitgar zone, west of Tehran and on the threshold of the east of Karaj, a place in between, as we call it. An in-between site in the middle of the two crucial and highly congested highways of the mega-city of Tehran. Hemmat-Hakim zone is the turning point of the redevelopment in Tehran. There are sub-zones in this major zone that integrate the fragmentation of Tehran. In this classification, the Chitgar zone is the most vital one that has specific potentials to transform into the restarting point of Tehran. Our proposal for the competition was the first aviation center for Tehran. Flight has always been a human’s desire and one of the most creative and provocative activities, from myths to today’s reality, from Simorgh [a benevolent, mythical bird in Iranian mythology and literature] to drone. One of the main solutions for transportation and social communication is existence in flight zones. This solution is extremely significant that has entered us swiftly into the sky, drones and air taxis will soon provide us with enormous facilities. Focusing on “Flight” in this proposal is not only a strategic boost for recreation and economics but also a reflection for the future possibilities of transportation in Tehran as “Flying” is an inevitable tool for focused development of future cities.
